The Process

Why a Process?

Immersive collaboration can be deconstructed into a series of interrelated steps that can be followed in order to produce an effective and efficient solution. This process has been evolved over 12 years of implementing immersive solutions with Mission Room and is battle hardened. We know what can go wrong and what to focus on. In fact we have a checklist of over 60 steps that we follow as part of the process.

Problem

It may seem obvious to start with the problem but we have seen too many people start with the technology and then look for the problem to justify the expenditure. So identifying the use case has to come first. We have developed a range of template situations that we can use to make this easy. Whether it is look-ahead planning or 4D digital rehearsal or scenario based training, we can help you identify the problem and show how you will benefit from immersive technology.

People

A clear understanding of the people in the solution is critical. Who will be involved? What experience have they got? How tech-savvy are they? Are they change resistant? How do they interact with each other? This is often the most interesting and challenging step in the process. Making these assessments and then developing a plan to take them with you on the road to an immersive solution is usually the most important step.

Place

This is often completely ignored by many clients who feel that they can simply find a spare room somewhere to stick this in. Actually, the location and specific environmental factors can make the difference between success and failure. There are a clear set of desirable features as well as a list of things to avoid. Again, our experience will guide you through the process of placing the solution.

Technology

Many people think this is the most important element and whilst it is important it is just another part of the solution. Having been so closely linked with Mission Room over many years we are naturally biased towards this hardware but there are other solutions that are sometimes better and we will indicate this if it is the case. Just as important as the hardware is the software that forms an integral part of the solution. This is where our software partners excel.

Integration

Finally, it is the integration of all of the above steps that will dictate whether the solution is a success or a failure. We have been involved over many years in developing solutions and in the early years, some of these were sub-optimal, but as we all know, you learn more from failure than success. As a result of this experience we now know what it takes to implement a successful immersive solution and just as importantly, what to do to avoid failure.
